Is Eating meat justifiable? Because pain maybe universal? I believe not.
I agree, it is possible that plants "may" feel pain when we harm them.
Maybe it is our own notions of pain and harm that allow for such a justification to eat meat?
We are so loaded with news, media and information to heighten our senses to fear. It is only reasonable that we project some of our own fear.
When I pull everything back to my core values it is kind of wonderful how everything comes clear in a way I would not have thought many years ago.
My strongest value is kindness, and I would anticipate that everyone feels kindness is a good thing even though it may not be top of your list. Just for a few minutes hold kindness as a value close to you.
It is true we need to kill animals to feed from their flesh, it takes the nutrients and heart of everything that creature that life.
It takes the whole life away just for the fleeting pleasure of our taste buds. Mothers and fathers are lost, children die and anyone left living has lost family.
When we eat plants we don't need to take a life.
In fact harvesting the fruits and vegetables and leaves from plants actually stimulates the plant to grow more and produce more life.
So out of these two options, would you rather kill, or promote life? And what values are you using to make your choice?
